Street Orienteering Hampton Wick

The Street Orienteering season kicks off on Tuesday 10th September for 2019/2020 in Hampton Wick.
The venue is The Lion Pub, 27 Wick Road, Hampton Wick, TW11 9DN. Food and drink is available for purchase afterwards. Due to electronic timing you can start anytime between 18:00 and 19:30.
You have one hour to find as many clues as you can – race, run or walk as you wish! It’s certainly not rocket science (or I wouldn’t be doing them!). A specially produced street map will be provided, as well as a timing chip, so all you need to bring is some running gear, a watch and a pen. You only have an hour to accumulate as many points as possible; over the hour and you will lose points accordingly. You can run in groups if you are worried or just not sure.
All under 16s must run with an adult (insurance purposes). It’s like a glorified treasure hunt. Entry is under £5, so what could be a better way to spend a Tuesday evening?
If you are not sure, and would like to talk to someone before taking part – just ask me, Bob, or respond to this notice.

Orienteering – Barnes Common – Sunday 30th June.

Venue: Spencer Arms, Lower Richmond Road, SW15 1HJ

Registration: Between 10:00am and 12:00am, so after the Sunday morning track session. Electronic start, so basically when you are ready to go!

Entry: £6 for seniors, and £3 for juniors which includes electronic dibber hire.

Beginners new to orienteering welcome. No booking necessary – just turn up.

There are two courses: the main course which is about 3½ to 4½ km (with optional
extension to around 6 km) and is of moderate navigational difficulty and a ‘Yellow’ course which is about 2km with easier navigation. Navigate between control points – you decide the best route in order to complete the course in the quickest time. Younger children should run the shorter course accompanied.

These are good fun, you can run in a group, and there’s always a drink after!

If you want any more details you can visit South London Orienteers’ website, speak to me (Bob) or leave a message on the Sheen Shufflers Juniors Facebook page.
