Just a reminder:
South London Orienteers are hosting an orienteering evening at Cannizaro Park in Wimbledon. This is open to all Juniors (and their friends) providing that they run with a parent or guardian. I know that at least a couple of you have expressed an interest in giving it a go. Also, at the school where I do the after-school running club, a few of the pupils there are intending to run. I am already escorting a couple of the Shufflers Juniors round (you can run in groups), so would be quite happy to take ownership of your possession if they want to do the long run (5K) and give them a go at map reading. Similarly, there are a couple of other Mums who have done orienteering before and will be doing the 2.5K course on the evening, that are happy to help out.
Basically, you are given a map at the start and you have to find the check in points marked on the map – and there are clues. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a fun evening. South London Orienteers are expecting a good Junior turnout and have devised a course that will help first timers.
The headquarters, run reception, is at The Hand In Hand, 6 Crooked Billet, London SW19 4RQ . As it’s an electronic start, you can start any time you like, but I suggest that we meet at 6:15 so we can sort out the attendees. The cost of entry is £5 for adults and £2 for Juniors.
If you need any more information, or just want to let me know that you’re coming and who you’d like to run with, just drop an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
